NaPoWriMo, Day 10

I used The Found Poetry Review’s prompt for today’s poem. It is an erasure poem. A form that I want to work with more throughout 2016. The text from which this poem was pulled is “Chrysalis” by Arthur Sze.

Corpses scrape at the sink,
Yellow light decaying –

Roots through the mind,
Singed wisteria of time.

Ginkgo leaf
With no midvein,
Mindless on a sunlit wall.

Butterflies on lilac buds constellate.

Elm branches on the water,
A lamb skull in the sand –
What transpired?

Golden rain.

Russian olives
In a black bowl of emptiness.

Yellow hibiscus.

Rain in the courtyard.
