Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt at ReadWritePoem is to write a humorous love tanka. I love writing in form and tanka is one of my favorites. This prompt excludes some so-called proper tanka rules and I’m all for that! It specifies five lines, but with no syllable count. Also, freedom from punctuation is encouraged.
I saw him with her on campus
He was so intent on her that he didn’t see me
Until a few months later in the library
When he made sure I was the one to stamp his book
While he checked me out
