NaPoWriMo, Day 4

ReadWritePoem’s prompt for day four of National Poetry Writing Month is to write inside out. I chose to write a poem about finally living true to myself after decades of trying to please others.

To Thine Own Self

Liberty came in
On the winds of age,
Spat in my eye,
Rattled my cage.

No time for pleasantries,
The bitch was unleashed,
Went straight to her work,
Destroyed my pastiche.
